Subject Lines that Get Emails Opened

It’s not so much the number of emails you send in a day but the number of emails that gets opened that matter in the insurance industry.  You can send a thousand emails but if you don’t have the right stuff in it, they’re doomed to be unopened and get thrown into the trash bin with one click of the mouse button.  The days when people opened every email they receive are long gone.  With spamming a prevalent problem and even the scourge of our times, you need to have a good kind of email to convince people to open your message.

With only seconds to work with when you send an email, you have to pack a punch with a great subject line.  It’s the first thing people see and if it looks like an ad, if it looks unimportant or if it looks like a forward email, delete is a great possibility.  When you’ve got a message to send your prospects, your insurance sales and insurance sales leads, you have to keep it short.  You’re given a regular limit of 50 characters for the subject line and that even includes the spaces.  If you can make your subject line using no more than five to six words, you’re in the zone.  Studies have shown that short subject lines have a greater chance of being opened.

While thinking up catchy six words to put in your subject line, you have to be sure that those words have your agency name.  Another thing, you have to put the purpose of your email right on the subject line too.  For example, you can make use of subject lines like 123 Insurance: Updated Rates for You.  If your insurance leads get an idea about what your message is about and if they see it helpful, they’ll be opening your email in no time.  In keeping your subject line short, it’s a given you avoid long sentences and run ons.  Utilize the power of the colon.  When you type up a subject line, don’t use FW or RE.
